Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop - prepare your existing PC

How do I prepare an existing Windows computer for the 365 Workplace?

Note! The computer is reset when you enroll it in the company's Microsoft 365 workplace.
If you have stored data on your computer's local hard drive, i.e. outside the remote desktop, back up all documents and other data before following this guide.


Go to Start (1) and open Settings (2).

Select Update and security (3).

Select Restoration (4) in the menu to the left. Under the Reset this PC Select Get started (5).

Select Remove everything (6).

Select Next (7).

NOTE
When you press Resetall documents/files on your computer will be deleted.

Select Reset (8).

Your PC will now initiate a reset.

Select language

You will now be prompted to select different language, region, keyboard and internet settings as you would for any Windows setup.

Accept Windows 10 license agreement (9).

Select Set up for an organization (10). Click here Next (11).

Enter your email address (12). Click here Next (13).

Then enter your account password and click Next.

The PC will now configure your device to work. This may take some time.

Choose if you want to use Microsoft's activity overview so that your work is consistent across devices (14). Please note that this requires that you allow information to be sent to Microsoft.

We recommend that you choose Do not use online speech recognition (15). Then click Accept (16).

The next part of the setup is about how much data you want to share with Microsoft.

In general, we don't recommend that you share data with Microsoft or keep it to a minimum where it cannot be completely opted out.

However, there can be advantages to saying Yes, you can (17) to Find my device in case of theft.

If you are at a Lenovo PC, you will be asked to add your device to your Lenovo ID profile. Select the Skip to (18).

Select Set up PIN code (19).

If you don't see this window, continue to the next point.

Enter your PIN code (20) and enter it again later to confirm (21).

Click here OK (22).

If you don't see this window, you are done with preparation

Your PC is now ready.
